Weak Ankles

4th year Graphic Design Student + Ethical adventurer

Living in the city sirens constantly announce death, we should have live twitter feed projected with new born’s names and times. It would bring a little more positive to all our negative surroundings.

Friday night, stayed inside played around with pastels watching Bad Sc-fi and I am a better person for it.

One week book, done for Open Studio.

Concept was based off a hand full of vague design questions that were meant to be inspiring. I fashioned mine as an “IOU note” with the idea that I owe humanity more then I can hope to pay out. Design being the only solution for my skill set where I can make this difference.

“Non-” Proposal

For Editorial Three, we are to come up with a magazine too complete in half a semester, the other half converting it on to a digital platform for tablets/e-readers etc. This is my pitch for tomorrow, Providing a copy of GEIST for a solid example.

NON- Proposal

Non-fiction, Non-published, and Non-finished Canadian Young(ish) Writers Monthly Magazine.

With create/choose your own adventure series has the forefront the structure.

This magazine/application will be Canadian based for unpublished authors as a way to get noticed, creative exercises and stay in touch with what other writers are doing. Mostly written content, with accenting photos, artwork.  Content will be submission created those who subscribe will be part of /invested in the magazine.

Main features, (what makes Non- different?)

A chapter of a story (2 to 3 stories running at one time) is released at each issue, and the next chapter is to be written by someone besides the author who wrote the last chapter, for a continue adventure, with different styles, and unpredictable plot.

Other features:

  • Poems, short mostly.
  • Short whole stories.
  • Opinion articles (few and far between or really relevant)
  • Photography, or photographed art/illustrations
  • One feature, from a well known, or published author (meant to inspire)
  • Or historic, related to content, if prevalent theme.
  • Suggest reading list

Advertising:

  • Art gallery/events/Students
  • Restaurants/ Readings
  • Books/publishing companies
  • Subscriptions

Best Example:

Next step would be beginning grid and format, thinking smaller then 8.5x11 but not by much. Call for submissions so I don’t have to create all the content, plus would make it more realistic, and great item to hold on past this class.
